Suntory PepsiCo Beverage (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a manufacturer and distributor of beverages under the Suntory and PepsiCo brands in Thailand, is advancing its "Fizzy Consciousness to Change the World" campaign with the launch of the 1.45-liter Pepsi ® in 100% rPET bottles, available from April 2024 onwards. The launch enhances its brand image among young generation with an environmentally conscious mindset. Suntory PepsiCo Thailand is the first beverage company in Thailand to use 100% rPET bottles as its beverage packaging.
Mr. Anawat Sangkhasap, Chief Marketing Officer, Suntory PepsiCo Beverage (Thailand) Company Limited, said, "In April 2023, we were proud to announce that Pepsi becomes the first player in Thailand’s beverage market to introduce bottles made from 100% recycled plastic, starting with 550 ml Pepsi and Pepsi Zero Sugar under the 'Fizzy Consciousness to Change the World' campaign. The feedback exceeded our expectations, highlighting consumers' growing preference for eco-friendly packaging and their contribution to reducing the use of Virgin PET. Building on this success, we are expanding our initiative in April this year by launching 1.45-liter of Pepsi, Pepsi LIME Flavor, and Pepsi Zero Sugar in 100% rPET bottles. By using more recycled plastic in the larger packaging, we aim to appeal to eco-conscious consumers who enjoy sharing drinks with friends or family. The launch of Pepsi 1.45-liter in 100% rPET bottles not only bolster our image as a leading eco-friendly beverage choice among the new generation but also signifies a major stride in promoting bottle-to-bottle recycling and sustainable packaging in Thailand."
Recycled PET bottles, or rPET bottles, are a sustainable packaging that has gained popularity globally and is now being adopted in Thailand. These bottles are safe and qualified with standards set by Food Safety Standard authorities for being used as food and beverage containers such as the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA), the European Food Safety Inspection Agency (EFSA), and Thailand's Food and Drug Administration (FDA). rPET bottles help reduce the consumption of virgin plastics and plastic waste by recycling used PET bottles into new ones, thus contributing to the sustainable utilization of existing resources.
At Suntory PepsiCo Thailand, we are committed to following the corporate value of “Growing for Good”, conducting business while taking care for society and the environment. The company emphasizes sustainable packaging management, focusing on selecting eco-friendly materials and designing packaging for easy recycling. It actively raises public awareness of proper waste segregation and recycling. The company has also collected used PET bottles to recycle them into rPET bottles, which can be infinitely recycled. Following the introduction of Pepsi 100% rPET bottles last year, the company has extended its effort to TEA+, ready-to-drink tea brand. As a result, Suntory PepsiCo Thailand currently offers more than 10 SKUs using 100% rPET bottles, becoming the beverage company that uses the largest number of 100% rPET bottles in the Thailand’s beverage market. This initiative expands the opportunities for consumers to choose for Pepsi and TEA+ products in more environment-friendly packaging. These products are accessible through both modern and traditional trade channels nationwide.
