ONE of Thailand’s most popular sporting occasions will have a new venue and a fresh look when the 2014 Bangkok International Rugby Sevens kicks off on Nov 8.
The 20th anniversary edition of this tournament, which draws teams and fans from all over Asia and beyond, will take place at the sports centre of Bangkok Patana international school. This venue has much-improved facilities for both players and spectators, including probably the finest pitches in the whole of Southeast Asia to ensure top-quality competition.

Sevens combines speed and athleticism with strength and physicality. Sevens is played in short matches – typically two halves of seven minutes each – enabling a fast-moving tournament format with never a dull moment. Sevens is proving especially popular in regions where rugby is still at a developing stage; the annual Bangkok International Sevens is one of the longest established events in Asia, but the improvements implemented for 2014 are expected to cement its position as one of the most enjoyable and popular Sevens
tournaments anywhere in the world.
Teams already confirmed from Australia, New Zealand, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Laos and Cambodia as well as Thailand in three categories (Men’s International, Women’s International, and Men’s Asia Social) playing across three pitches.
