Age-old Thai recipes in a modern tapas style for an authentically innovative dining experience in Samui’s famous Fisherman’s Village
A new concept in fine Thai dining has come to Samui in June 2022 with the much-anticipated summer opening of The Thai Tapas restaurant and bar. Small plate servings of traditional Thai dishes are presented in an elegant contemporary style for a never-before-seen blend of culinary cultures.
Fresh local produce is selected daily from fishermen’s boats at the village pier and combined with the world’s finest imported meats to create seasonal menus showcasing the rich and delicate tastes of Thai cuisine for every guest, every day. Small portion sharing-style dishes are creatively presented in a unique style by expert local chefs providing a new and exhilarating dining experience for travellers and locals alike.
Set on the relaxed market walk of Fisherman’s Village just a short stroll from the sands of Bo Phut Beach, The Thai Tapas is the perfect complement to this gently atmospheric corner of Thailand where elegant dining is offered beside local crafts, art, and souvenir stalls every evening. This new and delicious dining concept is set to be the talk of Samui’s already globally renowned culinary town.
Styled to blend childhood memories of Provence, France, with classic Thai design, guests will open the blue wooden door into The Thai Tapas to find a rustic and refined restaurant in which fresh fragrances flow through a unique and elegant interior filled with specially commissioned pieces including a one-of-a-kind rattan chandelier, created by the award-winning Asian designer Korakot Aromdee, and bespoke chairs and tables commissioned from local artists exclusively for The Thai Tapas.
“After a lifetime of working in luxury hotels around the world, from Europe and the UAE to the Maldives, and Thailand, I am overjoyed and excited to bring my passion for creating and providing luxurious and innovative food and hospitality experiences to my first concept restaurant in Samui. I have managed some of the most incredible hotel restaurants throughout my career but the opportunity to share my experience and love of fine food in this exciting new way is something special. I can’t wait to open the doors and see guests enjoying the creations of the incredible local and international team we have put together,” Patrick Moukarzel, The Thai Tapas founder, owner, and manager.
The Thai Tapas is an innovative new concept brought to Fisherman’s Village, Samui, by the experienced hotelier and graduate of the prestigious Lycée Hôtelier de Toulouse, Patrick Moukarzel. It will serve authentic Thai dishes such as Pad Krapow Gai, Duck Khao Soi, Khanom Jeen Scallop in a creative tapas style, and unique cocktails such as the Mango Sticky Rice and Soul of Thailand creation. This distinctive new restaurant is sure to become a hotspot in Fisherman’s Village.
