Oliver Tompsett, who was due to perform at the London’s West End Men concert in Bangkok this week, has been rushed to hospital in London. Tompsett who was staring in the hit musical Kinky Boots in London, contracted a serious chest infection and was immediately admitted to hospital. His role in the Bangkok concert will now be taken by Ashley Stillburn, another superstar from the West End. Tompsett’s agent informed the London based producers of the London West End Men concert late last Friday, and explained that his doctor would not allow Tompsett to take any long-haul flights. He therefore had no choice but to cancel his trip to perform in Thailand. London’s West End Men producer Paul Morrisey, has now found a top-class replacement, Ashley Stillburn, to perform on Saturday at the Thailand Cultural Centre concert. Morrisey said,” Obviously it is very unfortunate that Oliver was taken ill, and we all wish him a speedy recovery. Meanwhile, Ashley Stillburn, who is himself a superb West End star, has performed in many great musicals such as Sweeny Todd, The Woman in White, Les Misérables and as Raoul in Phantom of the Opera. We were therefore just extremely lucky that he was available at such short notice.” |
Ashley will be rehearsing in London this week, before flying over to join the rest of the cast for Saturday’s concert with the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra at the Thailand Cultural Centre.
‘I have actually performed with Daniel Koek in Les Miserables at the Queens Theatre and with Harriet Jones in Phantom at Her Majesty’s Theatre, so it will be wonderful to be back on stage all together again in Bangkok’, said Stillburn.
Tickets for the two balconies are almost sold out, however there are a few seats still available downstairs through www.thaiticketmajor.com
