Usage volume has been increased throughout 2018 with 5.3 billion messages shown on social media with an average of 10,000 messages per minute and has been expanded for 47% with over 230 million photos. Wisesight has developed “Social Seeing” tool the first time in Thailand to analyze photos on social media to efficiently understand customer behaviors and can be used for strategic planning process for products and services such as analyzing brand awareness through photos of marketing activities. Highlight of the event was when leading social media platforms such as Google, Facebook, Instagram, LINE, Pantip, Twitter shared the stage and revealed their growth and users’ interest of each platform in 2018. First, Google analyzed that people has been more interested in social media platform in recent years. Therefore, we need to approach right people, right place and right time. Google’s 7 core products which over million people has used; that is, Search, Youtube, Chrome, Gmail, Google Play, Android and Google Map facilitate users more. Facebook and Instagram have an exponential growth measuring from over billion users have been registered for both applications. Facebook Thailand announced that facebook has been very popular in Thailand with 37 million daily active users, and IG story has been a fast growing feature with 400 million daily active users around the world. Facebook has also focused on Social Commerce. According to Line, last year important activity of Line was the medium between brands and customers to launch KPI for brands’ back office in order for brands to send information directly to their customers, Line has acted as a connection to brands platforms. Furthermore, Pantip has tracking feature to specify more interested topics to users: Expert account and Expert brand to offer knowledge and more trustworthy answers for users and launch Quiz Game for brands to attract more users. Lastly, the most increasing numbers of users last year is Twitter with 25-34 age group. They want to gain real-time news and information through official brand accounts such as checking whether there are accidents on the roads etc.
Another special occasion of the event was the debut appearance of famous streaming platforms such as AIS Play, JOOX, Line TV, TrueID TV, VIU and YouTube sharing the stage to reveal about last year social media situation and update on their various features. First, AIS Play brought the strength of its network and partners such as Netflix and iflix to meet movie-lovers’ demand. Now, there are almost 4 million customers increasing double from last year. Joox has also grown in leaps and bounds because it has focused on users’ demand and tried to change its features to perfectly match the need of customers. In 2019, Joox plans to expand to Myanmar and add on a Karaoke feature so users can sing a long in the application. Line TV revealed that TV. watchers’ behavior has changed because they want to watch TV anywhere and anytime; therefore, Line TV added TV contents to its application and has been recognized as a champion for Re-run TV, programs. Now, Line TV has expanded to more mass customers and planned to cooperate with producers to create better contents. TrueID TV has focused on 30% lower internet data than other platforms to attract more people in other provinces and invested in content copyrights to compete with illegal movie market and set up a better-quality online content. VIU has also changed illegal movie viewers to use its platform and has grown for 89%; however, since it has been a latest platform, it must build strong foundation and more unique character. Last but not least is Youtube, an experienced platform with 1.9 billion users per month worldwide, launched “Watch Time” feature to measure time that users have watched contents. Thailand is at No.2 in Asia Pacific and 92% of people outside Bangkok will access to Youtube when they connect to the internet.
