An 11-acre urban escape on the Chao Phraya river, Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort has appointed Michael Robinson as new General Manager effective January 2023. In his new role, Michael will oversee all operations, including 281 guestrooms and 95 suites, 10 restaurants and bars, luxury river cruise Loy Pela Voyages, Anantara Spa, BDMS Wellness Clinic Retreat, and extensive meeting and event facilities. The New Zealand national joins Anantara Riverside Bangkok from FCC Angkor by Avani in Siem Reap, where he worked as general manager from 2020 driving revenue through game-changing storytelling and guest experiences. Prior to taking the helm at the historic Minor-managed property in Cambodia, Michael led the team at another Grand Dame, the storied Caravelle Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He joined the property in 2016 as Director of Rooms and was promoted to his first general manager role there the same year. Michael’s decade-long career in hospitality has seen him work across the USA, Middle East and Asia, starting with a trainee role with Hyatt Regency La Jolla, San Diego, USA. In 2009, Michael moved to the Middle East as pre-opening Assistant Manager - Front Office with Grand Hyatt Doha in Qatar, followed by a stint at Park Hyatt Dubai.
