This year, there were high-quality products from 57 countries by diplomats and their spouses in Thailand. They had brought premium and world-famous products to offer to our shoppers. The products were sold at special prices, so you did not have to travel overseas to purchase them, such as skincare products, like soaps and lotions scented with Bulgarian rose; the queen of flowers, which were the signature products from Bulgaria. There were also sheep placenta products from New Zealand, known for revitalizing, hydrating and anti-aging properties. Syrian soaps, made with olive oil, moisturize the skin. For food, there were salmon from Norway, cheeses from various countries such as France, Switzerland, Denmark, the Netherlands and Greece, and teas, coffees and wines from the EU. Local crafts were also available, such as sari from Bangladesh, Bhutanese traditional costume, qipao dresses and accessories from China, cashmere products from Mongolia, local textiles from Nepal, yarns from Nigeria, Russian dolls, Turkish evil eye, handmade crafts from Peru, Pakistan and other countries, Indonesian batik, Finnish glassware and accessories, and dried fruits and dates from Israel. This year, Spain returned to join the bazaar, and there were newcomers like Vietnam, Egypt, Kazakhstan and Montenegro as well as products from stores under royal projects, raffles by spouses of diplomats, and the Thai Red Cross souvenirs.
This year presented a trolley bag, designed according to this year’s theme of ‘Giving Colors Our Lives’. The bag featured symbolic colors of all 57 participating countries, combined as one, with a purpose to pass on the joy of giving by supporting the Thai Red Cross Society, as the bazaar has always done for 52 times. The trolley bag cost 500 Baht each and it was brought to auction for charity. Don’t miss the bag auction by the Thai Red Cross Society.
One of the most popular activities was the raffle tickets by spouses of diplomats in Thailand, priced at 50 Baht each. This year, there were more prizes to be won than ever, such as plane tickets from Turkish Airline, Nok Air, Malaysian Airline, and Singapore Airline, as well as gold necklaces and pendants from Beauty Gems, refrigerators, mobile phones, and accommodation and meal vouchers from leading hotels. The prizes were drawn by the committee on March 21, 2019 at the Fund Raising Bureau of the Thai Red Cross Society. Winners were announced on www.redcrossfundraising.org. The proceeds from the Bazaar were later passed to HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's support for the Thai Red Cross Society to offer assistance to those in need.
