How about a day in the life of a food delivery rider? foodpanda Thailand interviewed three riders: Yut, Bas, and Arm, and asked them about some of their most interesting delivery moments. Have you ever delivered to someone famous? Yut: Yes, I have delivered food twice to the national footballer, Charlie Chappuis. He was very nice and kind. What a coincidence! When delivering an order, have you bumped into an ex? Arm: No, never, but I hung out with a few girls while waiting for the order at the restaurant (laughs). |  |
What is the weirdest thing that has ever happened to you during a shift?
Bas: I once delivered an order for a customer who was living in a village a bit outside of Central Bangkok. The security guard didn’t allow motorbike in so we had to ride a bicycle to the customer’s house!
Where is the strangest location you’ve dropped off a delivery?
Arm: At Soi Yeun Yong. It was at 9PM and no one was around. It was very scary. I felt like I was part of a horror film.
Have you been invited in to join a customer?
Yut: Yes, many times. Last year, I delivered food to a house birthday party. They invited me and gave me free food. It was a very good vibe but I think the party owner was a bit drunk (laughs).

Bas: Yes, I have. It was in September this year and it was flooding so my scooter broke down. I needed to stop and start my scooter all over again. Thankfully, the customer understood when I delivered their order late and even gave me a big tip to say thank you.
Have you ever forgotten where you parked your bike? How long did it take to find?
Arm: Yes, I have. It was in a mall and I saw the exact same scooter (with same color and model) as mine. It was a bit late before I realized I was on the wrong scooter. I walked around the parking lot to find my scooter. It took me almost one hour until I found the right one!
Has anyone’s order ever smelled so good that you ordered the same thing shortly after?
Yut: Yes, it has always been the case for me with BonChon Chicken. It smells so good that I always needed to order the same right after my shift.
What’s the best free food you’ve been given by a restaurant?
Arm: I once received tons of food from Kah Moo Meng Jai as the owner was about to close the restaurant. Because it was a huge amount of food, I shared Kao Kah Moo (Pork leg with rice) with my colleagues after our shift ended.
What is the most impressive thing about being a foodpanda rider?
Yut: We genuinely help each other and we are friends in real life. Moreover, I love that I can make the customers smile when I bring food to their hands. It makes me feel good.
