With a name inspired by the stars above us, it has sought to redefine the standards by which we measure time and has always done so with elegant beauty and class. This year, the Constellation takes its next step in design and technology, offering 101 new models for women which not only offer exceptional variety, but also the excellence of precision that this family of watches is known for. In the 29 mm models, mechanical supremacy is delivered through the inclusion of an OMEGA Master Co-Axial movement, assured by the 8 strict tests that every Master Chronometer certified watch faces before it leaves the factory. Yet for this entire new line, it is the outward craftsmanship that truly stands out. The refined makeover has touched upon almost every part of the iconic design, while still keeping the central “Manhattan” look that has been a firm favourite for more than 36 years. The moment of discovery has arrived. When the Constellation was born
The OMEGA Constellation was introduced to the world in 1952, yet its origins began some four years earlier. To celebrate the brand’s 100-year anniversary in 1948, OMEGA released its first chronometer-certified wristwatch with an automatic movement. This model, named the “Centenary”, was greeted with such delight by connoisseurs of precision, that OMEGA recognised the need for a fully-established collection with the same official status. Four years later, the Constellation arrived. This moment marked the first time that any brand had created a family of watches that consisted only of chronometers. The certified excellence was a huge signal of intent and undeniably proved the brand’s dedication to accuracy. Of course, the look was quite different to the one we see presented in 2018. But even today, our new models remain true to some of those early characteristics, such as the elegant design, uncluttered round dial and the application of a diminutive gold star. Premmanat Vajrabhaya opened Baan Vajra, the colonial and classical Boutique Hotel, located at the heart of Bangkok on Silom 19 for an exclusive dinner, in which celebrities such as Atita Sutadarat, ML. Oradit Sanitwong, Thawin P Seawtong, Krongkarn Chomanan, Chanadda Chirathivat, Pimpreecha Deesawadi etc. was exclusively invited to join.
Baan Vajra is a cozy, private, and luxury Boutique Hotel in the centre of financial district of Bangkok. The new tourist destination conveniently located on Silom Road and near the Skytrain and Chaopraya River Pier. The traditional house was first built in the 1930s, where it has survived the change of time and been inherited by many generations. Today, the house has been renovated and preserved the characteristic and atmosphere for all guests and travelers to experience. The family name Vajrabhaya was bestowed by King Rama VI in the 1910s, when Thailand was still known as the Kingdom of Siam. Bangkok’s Silom area was full of trees, gardens and canals, and the Vajrabhaya was already living in the neighborhood. In the 1930s Baan Vajra was built on the current site on Silom 19 by a civil servant of the Justice Ministry named Daeng Vajrabhaya for his children. After Khun Daeng passed away, the house became a residence for his son Pruk Vajrabhaya. Baan Vajra soon became a regular gathering place for relatives from the provinces. Then in the 1960s, Khun Pruk and his family moved out, leaving Baan Vajra to his sister Amporn Vajrabhaya. Khun Amporn lived in this house until the 1990s, when she decided to move out to be closer to her nephew. Baan Vajra was then abandoned for many years, until the nephew Prempre Vajrabhaya had it renovated and rented out to become a Thai restaurant. The restaurant was operational for fifteen years. The interior takes inspiration from Light and Space artists of the 1960s who explored a conceptual use of light and geometric shapes to create an environment. In the Tokyo flagship, space is framed by inclined and folding planes created with “Kyoto white” plaster and classic mineral plaster, nodding to both the local and Italian traditions. The folds and pleats frame the windows and exterior views, and their color changes with the natural movement of sunlight throughout the day.
