W Bangkok has announced the appointment of Marco Dognini as the new Bar Manager at The Bar at The House on Sathorn, the iconic heritage destination and social hotspot, as it invites discerning guests to step inside and experience an exciting new era of creative mixology.
A highly acclaimed bartender, Marco has showcased his skills at five-star hotels, sophisticated bars, and prestigious restaurants all around the world. Having commenced his career in his native Italy, including spells at the Michelin-starred Carlo Cracco Restaurant in Milan and Alessandro Borghese’s Il Lusso della Semplicità, Marco spread his wings to Australia, where he delighted guests at the chic Sweetwater Rooftop Bar in Perth, before moving to the five-star Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort in Mauritius.

Most recently, Marco was the head bartender for the world-famous Buddha-Bar – first in Bodrum, Turkey’s glamorous nightlife haven, and then at Buddha Bar Dubai, one of the hottest social venues in the Middle East, located at the Grosvenor House, a Luxury Collection Hotel.
Marco’s stellar career has been illuminated with multiple accolades, including being ranked in the top 10 at the World Class competitions in Italy and Dubai, as well as being recognized as the 6th Best Under 30 Italian Bartender in 2018. He also became a brand ambassador for Coca-Cola in 2020.
Now, Marco is embarking on a new era of masterful mixology at The Bar at The House on Sathorn, the iconic venue at W Bangkok, where he will infuse world-class spirits with exotic Thai ingredients to craft truly unique beverages in an elegant and evocative setting.
A talented mixologist, Marco has a unique ability to weave stories and emotions into every cocktail. Inspired by the spirit of his surroundings, Marco loves to source local ingredients and artisan spirits, which satisfy his thirst for adventure and bring a unique sense of place to every creation.
“Bangkok is one of the most dynamic destinations for gastronomy and nightlife – a buzzing metropolis that blends heritage with innovation. This vibrant city is also at the cutting edge of the cocktail scene, and I am excited to head out to the local markets to find fresh, natural ingredients to infuse into my creations. Personally, I love classic sour cocktails, such as Margaritas or Daiquiri, and I never say no to Negroni! But there is so much inspiration here, and I look forward to introducing guests to some enticing new flavor combinations at The Bar at The House on Sathorn,” said Marco.
Juxtaposed against W Bangkok’s sleek, shining 31-story tower, The Bar at The House on Sathorn is an exquisite neo-classical landmark that was constructed as a private residence in 1899, and served as a hotel and the Russian Embassy before being revitalized by the award-winning design experts at AvroKO. Having reopened in 2015, it has now become one of the city’s most captivating dining and social venues.
The Bar at The House on Sathorn was relaunched in August 2022 with an immersive concept that was influenced by the intrigue of international affairs and the building’s history as an embassy.
