Monthly “The Art of Drinking Masterclass” led by Bar Manager Volkan Ibil

Led by The St. Regis Bar Manager Volkan Ibil, the 90-minute experience from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM pays homage to the glamor of the original House of Astor, where the traditions around the art of drinking began in 1932 at the famed King Cole Bar at The St. Regis New York.
Starting off with a Champagne sabering ritual at 6:00 PM, nibbles are then served alongside the bar’s signature Violet Hour Martini, which elevates gin, aromatized wine, orange and violette liqueurs, and orange bitters into a delicious work of drinkable art served in bespoke glassware specially designed to accompany cocktail enthusiasts as they transition from daytime work to nighttime leisure.
The Violet Hour Martini is named after “The Violet Hour", a daily dedicated ritual at The St. Regis Bangkok that is timed as much to mark as to coincide with the purple sky at the end of the day and the beginning of the evening.
Up on the bar counter, individual cocktail stations are set up for guests to learn to make one of Volkan’s personal signature beverages while learning about the New York cocktail culture and how it has inspired the bar program at The St. Regis Bar.
Volkan Ibil has experience creating works of art through cocktails at numerous bars in prestigious hotels around the world, including those in France, Hong Kong, Turkey and China where he worked as Head Bartender at the Four Seasons Hotel in Guangzhou. Diners can celebrate the start of 2023 in style with a choice of inventive and indulgent à la carte dishes that showcase this highly-prized ingredient. There are four special dishes to choose from; Akira Back’s signature Truffle Tuna Pizza (THB 740++) will be enlivened with fresh black winter truffle, umami aioli, and white truffle oil, and for vegetarian diners, the unique Truffle Mushroom Pizza (THB 600++) will also be elevated with this sublime seasonal ingredient.

Alternatively, Akira Back’s talented culinary team has unveiled a sumptuous seafood dish of Pan-Seared Halibut (THB 830++), accompanied with fresh black winter truffle and soy beurre blanc – an elegant “east meets west” creation. Finally, for a truly opulent epicurean experience, a prime cut of Japanese A5 Wagyu (THB 4,050++) is served with fresh black winter truffle and green asparagus.

This mouth-watering quartet of dishes will be available for dinner (17.30 – 22.30 hrs) at Akira Back from 1st to 31st January 2023. If you’re seeking a special treat to start the New Year in style, the “Wonder of Winter Truffles” is sure to elevate your evening.
