Chinese food, Hong Kong style, at K Village on Sukhumvit 26
| FOR an authentic taste of Hong Kong this new family-friendly restaurant at K Village shopping mall is just the ticket. The restaurant occupies a casual, functional dining space on the mall’s second floor and is redolent with Hong Hong’s most celebrated dishes. Tossed noodles, steamed rice rolls, barbecued pork, goose and chicken – Golden Bowl proudly serves the lot. Crystal Ho, the Hong Kong partner of the restaurant, was there to great us and treat us to a feast. “What you get in Hong Kong you can find here,” she told us. “We’ve done everything we can to make the dining experience as authentic as possible – from importing stoves which we use to concoct our famous congee, to bringing in ingredients for our mei fun noodles and sauces – which people sometimes overlook.” |  |
The Abalone & Prawn Balls Congee (B680 per bowl/B980 per pot) is served piping hot from the stove and is a smooth and silky treat. The Fresh Shrimps Wonton in Soup (B210) is equally as tasty, and we just loved the Crispy roast pork belly (B380) and Assorted roast meat platter (B880). The latter featured a succulent serving of steamed chicken, roast goose and BBQ pork; the former, a flavourful and generous slab of top quality pork belly.
Other highlights include Stir Fried Flat Noodles with Beef Slices (B350); Steamed Rice Rolls with Dried Shrimp and Spring Onions (B180); Steamed Rice Rolls with Pa Tong Goh (B160); and Crystal’s signature Fried Rice with Garoupa and salted fish with ginger (B380) – a perfect balance of flavours and textures.
Alongside its a la carte menu, Golden Bowl offers a choice of set lunch menus ranging in price from B320-B480 (available every Monday to Friday from 11am-5pm). Popular drink choices include Cold Hong Kong Milk Tea (B120) and Cold Lemon Tea (B120).
