ACCLAIMED Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto is slated to open his eponymous restaurant on August 4 at the CUBE, a lifestyle destination adjacent to the city’s tallest building and architectural landmark, MahaNakhon, which also houses other esteemed restaurants and luxury destinations including L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon, Chef Man Wai Yin’s M Krub, and the Bangkok Edition Hotel.
    
Chef Morimoto says his venture will bridge the culinary traditions of his native Japan and the International palate, “bringing intense excitement, exquisite technique, and perfectly balanced flavours” to the fore.
    
Signature dishes include Tuna Pizza with anchovy aioli, olives and jalapeño; Hamachi Tartare with wasabi, nori paste, and sour cream; Rock Shrimp Tempura with spicy kochujan and wasabi aioli; and Braised Black Cod with ginger-soy reduction.

Working alongside Executive Chef Arnaud Drouville, Chef Morimoto will also introduce new dishes such as Pork Chashu Salad, braised pork shoulder, cucumber, daikon with braised chashu sauce, crispy garlic chilli oil; while well-known mixologist Shingo Gokan will create an intimate list of cocktails based on traditional Japanese spirits.

Munch ‘n’ Crunch

TOP quality desserts are the order of the day at this new pâtisserie at The UP Rama 3 (Chong Nonsi). Run by a dessert loving couple who travelled the world to seek out the tastiest cake and pastry recipes, the shop features the best-selling Black Forest Gâteau topped with fresh cherries, and the beautifully moist red velvet cake, Gâteau Rouge Velours, and more luscious treats. THE latest food truck to roll out onto the city streets is the amusingly named FAT-U, which specializes in juicy homemade burgers served in saffron buns from Conkey’s Bakery.
