Royal Cliff Hotels Group Rewards Employees’ Children with Annual Scholarship Program

​It was a day full of happiness and gratitude for the employees of the Royal Cliff Hotels Group as the senior management gave back to its loyal and hardworking team by handing out 65 merit-based annual scholarships to the children of their staff as a gift of appreciation for their loyalty and hard work.
 
Divided into 3 levels, the fund was distributed among 65 students to support their studies in the current academic year.   One-year scholarships valuing to up to a total of more than THB 280,000 were granted to 7 kindergarten students, 18 primary school students and 40 high school and vocational students who were chosen based on their exceptional academic performances.  The heartwarming ceremony was chaired by Mrs. Panga Vathanakul, the Managing Director of the Royal Cliff Hotels Group together with members of the senior management and will be held every year with the aim to continuously support the academic ambitions of the children of Royal Cliff employees.

Royal Cliff Hotels Group Brings Joy to Children of the Father Ray Foundation and Pattaya Orphanage with Annual Donation

As part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program, the Royal Cliff Hotels Group continually helps out the local communities and those in need. Recently, the Senior Management of the Royal Cliff warmly welcomed representatives from the Father Ray Foundation and Pattaya Orphanage who came to receive a generous charitable donation from the company.
 
Mrs. Panga Vathanakul, Managing Director of Royal Cliff Hotels Group and Mr. Vitanart Vathanakul, CEO of Royal Cliff Hotels Group presented a generous donation of 400,000 Baht to the Pattaya Orphanage and another 400,000 Baht to the Father Ray Foundation.  Fr. Peter Pattarapong Srivorakul C.Ss.R., President and Director of Father Ray Day Care Center, Sr. Pavinee Pichaisrisawadi, IJ., Manager of Pattaya Redemptorist Technological College for People with Disabilities and the Pattaya Orphanage team were delighted to receive such contributions that can help reduce the foundations’ monthly expenses and contribute to the improvement of the children’s’ welfare.
 
Father Ray began caring for and educating Thailand’s orphaned babies, disabled individuals and abandoned children in 1974. Today, there are 6 centers running programs under Father Ray Foundation, 5 in Pattaya and 1 in Nong Khai, Northeastern Thailand. Established in 1978, The Pattaya Orphanage currently takes care of approximately 160 orphans, ranging from newborn to studying at the university level. The organization cares for poor orphans and provides lodging, food and education services without limitation in race and religion. Queen’s Cup Pink Polo 2020 concludes with memorable elegance as outstanding female riders win The Queen Mother’s royal cup

For the 12th consecutive year, the highly anticipated all-female charity polo tournament Queen’s Cup Pink Polo 2020 once again concluded on a high note.

Organized by Dr. Harald Link, president of B.Grimm and Thailand Equestrian Federation, and Nuntinee Tanner, vice president of Thailand Equestrian Federation in association with US Polo, the Queen’s Cup Pink Polo 202 was a tournament to win The Queen Mother’s royal cup and raise fund for The Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer Foundation on Saturday 22 February 2020 between 12pm to 6pm at Thai Polo & Equestrian Club Pattaya.


Nuntinee Tanner, vice president of Thailand Equestrian Federation, head of the organizing team, said that, “breast cancer is the number one cause of death of Thai women, and the casualty keeps increasing. A lot of breast cancer patients struggle with this illness without help or support, while many lack funding for treatment and spend their lives without home or caretakers. The charity Queen’s Cup Pink Polo that has been held for the past 12 consecutive years plays a crucial role in providing support for breast cancer patients through The Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer Foundation. We truly hope that with this all-female polo tournament, polo will be recognized and known more widely to the public and that women can come together to play sport and support a good cause.”

Contenders for this year’s tournament included four international teams, namely Marengo, La Familia, Ethiopian Airlines and the home team Thai Polo. The last two teams entered the semi final at 4.45pm to compete for The Queen Mother’s royal cup.

Besides the thrill on the polo pitch, Queen’s Cup Pink Polo 2020 also included a string of Saturday fun such as bagpipe performance by RPCA Pipe Band and Yorkshire terrier parade by Yorkshire Terrier Club Thailand, led by Khun Namhom, HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya’s dog.

Valentine’s Day in Hua Hin was at its romantic peak as the Amsterdam's best 23-piece orchestra, Biggles Big Band, revisited the city for the finalé concert, The Grand Valentine's Day with Biggles Big Band, held as part of the band’s Thailand Tour 2020. Led by the hotel’s Resident Manager, Jan Weisheit (second from right), the memorable evening of was great success, with hundreds of guests and all jazz lovers from across the globe in attendance for the recreation of the magical sounds on the special day. Highlights of the glittering evening included some romantic classics of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, Duke Ellington and jazz singers like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin – all recreated with the orchestra’s well-known contemporary styles, suitable for listening as well as dancing.

Narrated and conducted by the talented conductor Adrie Braat (pictured, centre), the ensemble consisted of five trumpets, four trombones, five saxophones, guitar, piano, acoustic bass, drums and a female vocalist, Clara Baker, all guaranteeing a sensational musical experience.

A charity auction on the evening showcased one-of-a-kind luxury items and unique experiences, with all proceeds raised to be donated to the Foundation of Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability under the Patronage of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. In addition to exquisite gastronomy crafted by the hotel’s culinary team, philanthropists and VIP guests were also treated to an exclusive performance by world-class singer and songwriter Ronan Keating.

Gift of Happiness Foundation 10th Anniversary Charity Event at The Sukhothai Bangkok

The idea of starting this charity was born in 1992 by British and Swedish born circus performers, Mr & Mrs Eddie & Charlotte Haworth when they ran circus training workshops for disadvantaged kids in Liverpool, UK. In 2000, Eddie was invited to perform at a charity event held at the British Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand. 

Following that performance and a few more for the slum kids in Bangkok, it was quickly decided to bring more gifts of laughter and educational entertainment to orphans and poor families in Thailand through simple interactive and educational comedy shows for those whose lives quite often contain little joy.
 
The Foundation help orphans, vulnerable street children, Bangkok slum dwellers, families living in garbage dumps, AIDS centres and facilities housing physically or mentally challenged children and regularly serve medical centres, crisis centres for abused women, communities of migrant worker families and people displaced by civil war who live in refugee camps by giving away tons of essential goods during aid giving projects, delivered where it's needed most and at least once every month of the year.
 
Now supported by a team of dedicated volunteers, the Gift of Happiness Foundation is not tied to supporting just a few children at only one location. Therefore, this unique charity has the freedom to provide joy to thousands of children in urban and remote locations throughout the country.
 
Since 2010, the Gift of Happiness Foundation has served the community with humble dedication, and to celebrate a decade of providing happiness, The Sukhothai Bangkok had the honor of hosting this remarkable charity event at its ballroom on Thursday, February 6, 2020.
 
The Gift of Happiness Foundation 10th Anniversary Charity Event was attended by both private and public organizations who joined hands and successfully raised more than THB 100,000, including an auction raffle prize for a three night stay at any of the Small Luxury Hotels of The World’s desirable collection of over 500 independently spirited hotels in more than 80 countries around the world.
 
This amazing evening would not have been possible without the numerous guests of honor from various communities who truly expressed their support and take inspiration from the foundation’s motto, “We all laugh in the same language”. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those who joined the event and made a real difference with their generous donations.
