​Thailand Science Research and Innovation or TSRI, in collaboration with network agencies in science research and innovation system, joins forces with the private sector led by Federation of Thai Industries and Board of Trade of Thailand to hold a press conference of Thailand Research and Innovation Utilization Promotion Fair 2023 (TRIUP FAIR 2023) will be held on July 18-19, 2023, at Royal Paragon Hall, 5th floor, Siam Paragon Shopping Center. This is an important research and innovation event which gathers works, researchers, entrepreneurs and over 60 agencies in the ecosystem who support the business sector together in one place, with a goal to increase competitiveness of the private sector and make concrete economic impact with research and innovations.
Prof. Emeritus Dr. Soottiporn Chittmittrapap, chairperson of National Commission on Science, Research and Innovation Promotion, said that, regarding the fast pace of progress on the national and global level, he sees that every sector in Thailand must place emphasis on utilizing science, research and innovation to enhance the quality of life of the people and increase the competitiveness of the country. Recently, Thailand has passed Thailand Research and Innovation Utilization Promotion Act B.E. 2564 (TRIUP Act) which is one of the laws for the economic reformation of the country that unlocks research and innovation ownership and promotes innovation utilization in the country. He expects that every sector realizes the significance of this Act and is able to make use of it for the country's development in the same way as the success in other countries that have already enforced this kind of law

Mr. Martin Wuethrich has been appointed as the new General Manager of Hua Hin Marriott Resort & Spa, bringing almost 30 years of hospitality experience and expertise to Thailand’s gulf coast.
A Swiss national, Martin grew up in a hospitality family and spent his teenage years working in his parents’ restaurant. Having graduated from the Higher Hotel Management School in Switzerland, he went on to gain valuable experience at the Luxury Resort Ermitage Golf & Spa in Schoenried, Switzerland. Martin always had a passion for travel however, and he made the decision to move to Asia in 1996. Following his first role as F&B Manager with Novotel in Bangkok, he enjoyed his first taste of life in Hua Hin in 1998 when he was appointed Executive Assistant Manager of the Anantara resort.
Since this time, Martin’s career has grown from strength to strength. Returning to Bangkok in 2000, he was appointed Director of Food & Beverage at Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers, which marked the start of a 23-year spell with Starwood Hotels and Marriott International in four countries: Thailand, Vietnam, India and Malaysia.
Martin’s first posting as General Manager was at Sheraton Grand Bangalore at Brigade Gateway in 2010, the first managed Sheraton in India. During this role, he won several awards including “General Manager of Year India” by Hotelier India. In late 2013, he moved back to Bangkok to open Asia’s first Le Méridien golf resort, Le Méridien Suvarnabhumi Golf Resort & Spa, where he achieved a #1 ranking on Tripadvisor and was recognized with the multiple awards, including the Divisional Brand Ambassador award for Le Méridien in Asia Pacific. He was also elected to the GM Advisory Board for Le Méridien worldwide.
Martin now returns to Thailand as GM of Hua Hin Marriott Resort & Spa.

1. Does Phuket still remain a desirable destination for purchasing vacation homes?  
Absolutely. Phuket is still one of the region’s most competitive real estate markets with good short- and long-term returns driven by high demand and a strong history of land and villa capital appreciation. We are seeing a lot of interest from buyers looking for a second home in Phuket, especially in the luxury segment.
 
The trends that emerged during the pandemic – a preference for remote working, landed properties, and resort-branded residential projects – are still going strong. What is different today is that whereas during the pandemic Phuket’s market for luxury real estate was mainly driven by domestic demand, today we are seeing many more first-time or returning overseas buyers, resulting in a more balanced mix between domestic and foreign demand.
 
Another reason why Minor International remains bullish on Phuket is the province’s commitment to significant infrastructure investment in anticipation of future growth, and that’s in addition to the island’s reputation for international-standard healthcare and education, a mature hospitality market and a myriad of leisure activities. Phuket is also re-establishing itself as a travel hub, with an international airport that offers easy access to the rest of Asia, the Middle East, Europe and beyond.

The partnership between Royal Cliff Hotels Group and AssetWise was forged through their aligned values in making Thailand a leading sports destination especially for Tennis. The first event that the two companies worked together on was organizing the successful ITF Masters Tennis Championship held in November. The tournament attracted around 200 players from across the globe with the oldest player being over 80 years old. From this event and with Royal Cliff’s expertise in organizing multiple sports activities came the idea of creating 2 international Tennis events. The first event will be the first time that the 2 organizations have done which is the Junior Tennis Tournament. The second event will be the repeat of the ITF Masters which Royal Cliff has been granted the highest grade in Asia by International Tennis Federation. The two events will be taking place at the resort’s Fitz Club, luxury fitness centre, on 3 – 4 June and 18 – 24 November 2023 respectively.
