Representatives from the Embassy of Canada, the Embassy of Singapore in Thailand, and executives of Chao Phraya Estate, a luxurious mixed-use project by Chao Phraya River, together with representatives from Sathorn District Office, cleaned up an area along the Chao Phraya River as part of the Clean Up The World 2019 activity to raise awareness about plastic waste in our environment and to encourage everyone to help maintain cleanliness around the Chao Phraya River. The activity took place in the area around Four Seasons Private Residences Bangkok at Chao Phraya River on Saturday 21 September 2019.

Clean up the World campaign, which is now in its 26th year, initiated by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) with now over 35 million volunteers from 130 countries across the world taking part in total. It is one of the biggest environmental communities. The activity in Bangkok this year received support from public and private sectors, namely the BMA, embassies in Thailand, hotel partners, local businesses, communities, and neighborhoods in the area. The volunteers joined forces to make the area cleaner by sorting waste in public spaces such as footpaths, roads and canals to prevent waste from entering the Chao Phraya River and making its way into the Gulf of Thailand.
The activity was joined by more than 300 volunteers, including Ben Taechaubol, Chief Executive Officer of Country Group Development PCL, as well as his colleagues and their families, and hotel partners led by Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River and Capella Bangkok who helped maintain cleanliness along the Chao Phraya River by collecting waste to restore the River’s beauty. As part of the campaign, Bangkok River Partners (BRP) collaborates with Mahidol University to categorize and count the waste to collect data as a benchmark for next year. The information will help us solve environmental issues better, with tangible and measurable goals.  This campaign inspires change and social responsibility among everyone involved, from public and private sectors to the general public. Everyone can help reduce plastic waste by the Chao Phraya River effectively and sustainably.

Ben Taechaubol, Chief Executive Officer of Country Group Development PCL, said, “It has been our pleasure to take part in this activity. Chao Phraya River has always been a significant part of Thai people’s lives. We are delighted that CGD can play a role in showing responsibility to our environment.”

Country Group Development’s prestigious Chao Phraya Estate encompasses some 14 acres of prime waterfront land and features a 73-storey luxury residential tower housing the ultra-luxurious Four Seasons Residences Bangkok at Chao Phraya River. The development includes two new world-class hotels – Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River and Capella Bangkok – offering residents and visitors from around the world a unique urban waterfront resort experience.
