To support communities affected by the coronavirus crisis, Burasari Group will provide low-cost meals, free produce and contribute funds for medical resources to their partner communities in Thailand and Laos, PDR.
Lily-Vareerat Udomkunnatum, Managing Director of Burasari Group, and the management team of the Burasari Group’s hotels in Thailand and Laos, PDR announce the launch of “We Care For Our Community”,  a campaign to support local communities, particularly the elderly and persons directly impacted by the economic effects of the coronavirus.

In collaboration with the General Managers of Shanghai Mansion Bangkok, Burasari Phuket, La Seine Hotel by Burasari Vientane and Burasari Heritage Luang Prabang—three key properties in Burasari Group’s portfolio—Ms. Udomkunnatum has launched a set of initiatives within each respective city. To date, “We Care For Our Community” includes the following initiatives:

  1. Shanghai Mansion Bangkok’s We Care Mealbox Project, wherein hotel-quality meal boxes will be sold at the cost price of 24 Baht to support unemployed people, local residents, and organisations who wish to distribute the meals within their neighborhoods and communities.
  2. 7th Heaven by Burasari, initiated the rooftop dining outlet of La Seine Hotel by Burasari in Vientiane, will donate 25% from the sales of their delivery menu to help purchase medical supplies for  local hospitals, medical facilities, doctors and nurses.
  3. Burasari Heritage Luang Prabang has cleared land behind the hotel to start BRG Organic Farm, a vegetable and herb garden. Produce from the farm will be available free of charge to hill tribe communities and local residents to ensure that anyone in need can have access to food. BRG Organic Farm’s first harvest is estimated to be 25 April, 2020

Burasari Group is an active business and community member in Bangkok, Phuket, Vientiane and Luang Prabang, where hospitality and tourism are leading income generators. Necessary lockdowns to restrict the spread of coronavirus have resulted in a sharp downturn or complete halt in tourism and, as a consequence, income. Ms. Udomkunnatum initiated the campaign to support those directly and indirectly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, in particular the elderly, the unemployed and the poor who are struggling financially and emotionally.

Additionally, Ms. Udomkunnatum launched the “I Challenge U” initiative among all employees of Burasari Group. “Our employees are part of Stay-At-Home policies to practice social distancing and reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus,” states Ms. Udomkunnatum. “During this time, I want to encourage continued learning and self-development among our team.” Ms. Udomkunnatum is challenging her team to pursue one or more goals in the following areas: give up smoking; reduce weight; complete the Burasari training and e-learning in the shortest time possible; and, study a new language up to intermediate level. Company rewards and incentives will be awarded to those who accomplish their goals successfully.
A leader in sustainable and environmentally-friendly business practices, Burasari Group believes growth and stability in business can be accomplished while still meeting the needs of the community and the environment. In times of crisis, it is particularly important for businesses to do the right thing by supporting their communities and their employees, according to Ms. Udomkunnatum. “Our hope with the We Care For Our Community campaign is to lead by example and to encourage organisations, institutions and all citizens to work together to overcome this crisis as soon as possible. We are confident that we can get through this crisis just like Thai citizens have done in the past. The Burasari Group team is keeping their fingers crossed for Thailand and the citizens of the world.”
