In support of efforts to combat the global spread of COVID-19, Fast Retailing has enlisted the help of its manufacturing partners in China to procure approximately 10 million masks. These masks will be donated to high-priority medical facilities in Japan and in other locations around the world including 500,000 masks for Thailand where there is an urgent need for protective wear, including masks.
The donation is in response to critical shortage of protective masks exists at medical facilities around the world, where the COVID-19 disease has caused an escalating health emergency. This includes markets where Fast Retailing operates. In Thailand, where roughly 3,000 cases have been confirmed, Fast Retailing will donate 500,000 masks through its local UNIQLO offices, starting May. The masks will be supplied to local medical facilities through 11 hospitals nationwide.
Since the initial spread of COVID-19 unfolded at the start of the year, UNIQLO’s holding company Fast Retailing has continued to provide assistance to affected countries and regions like China, South Korea, and Southeast Asia by donating UNIQLO products such as HEATTECH, AIRism, and Down Jackets to medical personnel and NGOs.
