During December 3 to December 23, 2018, invited competing contestants showcased their pairing creations at their respective restaurants using Gin Mare as the highlight ingredient. Top Bangkok restaurants and bars such as Vertigo Too, Eat Me Restaurant, Scarlett Bangkok, The Bar Upstairs, Oskar Bistro Bangkok, Q&A Bar, SALT AREE, Sky on 20, Odtomato, and Marcel battled to create the most unique food & cocktail pairing interpreting Gin Mare's Philosophy of "Mare Nostrum”; that represents the Mediterranean “lifestyle, gastronomy, climate and feeling of escape”. Big congratulations of The Bar Upstairs for having discovered the perfect food & beverage pairing creations developed by its Chef and Bartender team and coming out on top!
The Gin Mare, the first and authentic Mediterranean Gin, in partnership with B-Delicious, created the campaign supported by the panel of recognized judges to visit and taste, however the winning establishment will be scored based on the following criteria: inspiration, explanation, presentation, appearance, flavor, aroma, harmony of the ingredients, and final result of pairing. Winner will be judged on Gin Mare’s commercial sales as well.
The ultimate pairing winning menu for this year is ‘On the Coast’; a specialty dish of Scallop and oyster tartare with dried Arbequina olives, preserved lemon, Gin Mare, and tarragon foam, crispy thyme tuile with a refreshing, savoury, and tropical sour Gin Mare (Spiced Oyster Liqueur, clarified lemon and basil, egg white, coconut olive oil, oyster leaf dust smooth). This unique pairing, inspired by the vision of “Mare Nostrum” to representing the values of Gin Mare (lifestyle, gastronomy, climate and the unique feeling of escape), gives tantalizing flavours of fresh salty sea breeze and land, transports you to the beautiful Mediterranean Coast.
