This event aims to preserve time-honored Loy Krathong festival in an eco-friendly way by promoting the use of natural materials and reducing an environmental impact, leading to sustainable living along the Chao Phraya River. The opening ceremony, taking place on November 22, 2018, at 6 p.m., will welcome ambassadors from 13 embassies, together with A-list guests and celebrities such as Kannarun ‘Prang’ Wongkajornklai and Pongsakorn ‘Toey’ Mettarikanon, who will join environmentally friendly Krathong floating activity.
Mr. Narong Chearavanont, Chairman of the Board, The ICONSIAM Superlux Residence Corporation Ltd., revealed, “It is ICONSIAM’s policy to build a sense of social, environmental and cultural responsibility. To take part in sustainable community development and proudly be a part of the Chao Phraya River, we have been executing three major missions for the society – preserving natural resources and environment along the Chao Phraya River, sustainably developing communities and promoting exceptional local wisdom, and preserving highly valued tradition that has been incorporated in the way of life of people along the river. So, ICONSIAM, joining hands with public and private partners, namely The ICONSIAM Superlux Residence Corporation Ltd., The ICONSIAM Residences Corporation Ltd., Tourism Authority of Thailand, Viriyah Insurance Plc. and surrounding communities, will host “ICONSIAM CHAO PHRAYA RIVER OF LIFE” from November 19 to 22, 2018. The event aims to preserve time-honored Loy Krathong festival and save the environment around the Chao Phraya River by encouraging each family to use one Krathong made of natural materials or float Krathong via online application.”
As the latest riverside destination, ICONSIAM for the first time opens its gate for all visitors to join a wide array of activities in Loy Krathong festival. They will be captivated by 6.5 meters high Krathong with LED screens that project digital images and contemporary performances such as paying homage to heavenly Phra Chula Manee, Queen of River, Ram Klong Yao (long drum dance), Lao Kratop Mai (bamboo dance) and dance of four regions at River Park. Additionally, they can admire beautiful Krathongs representing five regions of Thailand, the creations of students from leading institutes - King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Rangsit University, Silpakorn University, Poh-Chang Academy of Art and Rajamankala University of Technology Rattanakosin. Besides these wonderful creations, they will be amazed by an exhibition displaying Krathongs from 13 embassies on M floor of ICONLUXE. These Krathongs draws inspiration from traditional Loy Krathong festival to represent the national identity of each country. Moreover, visitors will watch cultural performance from four regions of Thailand that are rotated daily for free of charge. While enjoying shows and activities, they can explore signature dishes from 77 provinces in International Temple Fair and join a workshop at SookSiam where they learn how to make Krathong from natural materials. More importantly, everyone can float Krathong via “Krathong” application, which is available for free download on Play Store or App Store. The users can design their own Krathong, which will appear on a multi-media screen on the Chao Phraya River bank. |
