Mitr Phol Group and Banpu Public Company Limited — private organizations that operate their business by adhering to good corporate governance and prioritizing both business and social responsibilities, have collaboratively established “Mitr Phol-Banpu Solidarity to Aid Thailand on COVID-19 Confrontation Foundation,” of which the value is 500 million baht, with objectives to sponsor corresponding agencies with medical and public health equipment necessary for COVID-19 protection and control in Thailand in order to mitigate and cease the pandemic, and to express gratitude and supports to all medical personnel at the same time.
Ms. Somruedee Chaimongkol, Chief Executive Officer of Banpu Public Company Limited, imparted that “As a result of the COVID-19 outbreak in Thailand which adversely affects people’s lives to a great extent, the number of the infected has been consistently increasing day after day. Banpu regards this situation as our responsibility to take part in addressing the problem side by side with those who have devoted themselves for other people. We truly wish that this collaboration of Banpu and Mitr Phol Group will be a great support in successfully handling and coping with the crisis. Moreover, we hope that we shall be inspiration and motivators that encourage other groups of people to take part in supporting and making it through this hard time, whether they be large, medium, or small organizations, or even individuals that are willing to help. On top of that, this is also a time for Thai people to join forces and overcome this situation altogether. As to be part of the supporting team in rapidly eradicating the virus, Mitr Phol Group have previously distributed alcohol sterilizer obtained from sugarcane ethanol production as well as “Chuenjai by
Mitr Phol” branded alcohol hand sanitizer made from molasses to 140 hospitals, educational institutes, and public agencies in 37 provinces throughout the country for the purposes of disinfection and cleaning. Additionally, the company also gave one hundred thousand liters of alcohol sterilizer to the Excise Department. The total value of all alcohol products distributed is more than 10 million baht.
For Banpu PCL, the company has aided Thammasat University Hospital in constructing and renovating 5 negative pressure rooms, and gave 10 ventilator machines to the hospital, the total value of which is equivalent to 10.5 million. In this regard, the purpose of this support is to provide medical personnel with access to equipment that assists them in offering treatment to the COVID-19 infected person in a more rapid and effective manner.
