Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Melaka commemorates its anniversary with a series of promotions and activities to mark this significant year as we celebrate our 35 years being in the hospitality industry.

Recognizing the need to play our part within the community and ensuring a greener and cleaner environment, our hotel has undertaken various steps and projects to make this a possibility with the hotel’s anniversary being no exception.

The hotel organized a charity walk last weekend, aptly called “We Walk Because We Care” as we extended our celebration beyond the doors of the hotel by reaching out to the community surrounding us. The walk which took off from the grounds of the Yayasan Toh Puan Zurina between 2.5km – 5km was aimed at raising funds for two beneficiaries which the hotel had identified, namely Yayasan Toh Puan Zurina Dialysis Centre and St. John’s Ambulance Melaka Tengah.

The walk saw participants from all walks of life gathered together for a good cause commencing first with a Zumba workout led by the team from Body Rock which then ensued with the flag off led by Datuk Soh Chin Aun, Malaysia’s Veteran Footballer who was joined by hotel General Manager, Mr. Klaus Sennik, representatives from the beneficiaries; Datuk Radhuana and Tan Sri Datuk Seri Haji Mohd Ali bin Mohd Rustam, Madam Kristil representing St. John’s Ambulance Melaka Tengah together with the main sponsors; representatives from Melaka Tong Bee, Datuk Gary Choo (Mamee), Mr. Michael Teh (Ban Zen Motors) and some of the hotel owners from Melaka Tong Bee.

The walk culminated with a mock cheque presentation to the beneficiaries much to the delight of the participants who had played a part towards this contribution as well. With a nominal fee of RM35 (adults) and RM25 (children) as registration entitling them for a t-shirt, e—certificate, goodies bag and Mamee noodles station courtesy of Mamee, biscuits from Julies and refreshments prepared by the hotel, the registration fee went towards the fund donated.
“We were honored to play our part in reaching out to the community around us and by giving back to the two beneficiaries through the funds that were successfully raised by joining hands with our valued partners” said General Manager, Mr. Klaus Sennik. “The tree planting activity was an extension of our hotel’s green efforts to instill a greener and cleaner practice beyond the doors of the hotel”, he added in reference to the tree planting activity that took place after the walk within the grounds of the Yayasan Toh Puan Zurina.

Signifying the hotel’s 35 years in the industry and adding an extra touch to the event, the hotel collaborated with two of its landscape partners namely Fook Choon Trading and Khoon Ho Trading for the provision of 35 trees, a combination of fruit and landscape plants which were then planted in a ceremony witnessed by the staff and owners of the hotel as well as the team from the Yayasan and sponsors, within the ground of the foundation. Recognizing the need to create a green and fresh environment for the patients who frequent the Yayasan Toh Puan Zurina, while holding to the symbolic number 35, this was part of the hotel’s continuous green initiatives and activities which has recently won the hotel 3 green awards, one of it being the special award for green initiatives among others.
Other sponsors of the charity event which was supported by the state government (Ministry of Health and Drug Prevention) and Melaka Tourism included, Faithview Group, Joy Chan Advertising, HM Jaya, Bee Balloon, E Ventures, Julies, CIMB, Toyota, The Shore Ocenarium, K-One Hon Construction Sdn. Bhd, who contributed towards the success of the charity event.

Aimed to be an event which encompasses community sharing and green advocacy, Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Melaka once again upholds its core values through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities and green initiatives, 35 years and counting.
