In this year’s tournament, women are able to showcase their polo skills, in line with the concept of the upcoming International Women’s Day (March 8) which celebrates social and economic equality between women and men.
Leading the organizing team is Ploy Bhinsaeng, a Thailand Polo Association committee and a national polo player. She said, “The King Power International Ladies’ Polo Tournament 2020 was organized during February 25-29 and has reached the final round. The King Power International Ladies’ Polo Tournament is now in its second year, participated by top female polo players from around the world such as professional lady polo player Hazel Jackson-Gaona, as well as many other players from South Korea, the UK, Argentina, and Thailand. The final round is a match between Marengo Polo Team vs Côte d'Azur Polo Team.
The inspiration behind this tournament was Ploy’s coach Sunny Hale, a top female polo player who has passed away. Hale taught Ploy about polo and life, and inspired Ploy to initiate the first ladies’ polo tournament in 2018. Now in its second edition, the objective of the tournament is to promote ladies’ polo and create a significant polo tournament in Thailand, participated by top female polo players from around the world to showcase their skills. This year, the final round takes place on the International Women’s Day, under the theme Diva Festa, inspired by Mexican colors and festivity, to reflect women’s passion for fashion, colors, and grace. The highlight of the King Power International Ladies’ Polo Tournament 2020 is the fresh and vibrant energy of the female players, as well as many activities that come with polo matches, such as stomping the divots, one of the longest-standing and most important traditions in which successful women from various industries show support to the players.” The King Power International Ladies’ Polo Tournament 2020 is supported by King Power Group, Singha Corporation Limited, Thai AirAsia Limited, Plan B Media Public Company Limited, Audi Thailand by Meister Technik Limited, Bangkok Smartcard System Limited of Rabbit Card, Omazz (Thailand) Limited, Bangpakok Hospital Group, Palama Lapa Limited of Erb, Italasia Trading (Thailand) Limited which imports Stolichnaya, Michael Kors, Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works, and Karma Koma.
