TAP Group, the manufacturer and distributor of Heineken, Tiger, and Cheers in Thailand launches “Grow Plant Grow Community” project to celebrate World Environment Day by encouraging the community nearby TAP brewery to grow 1 big tree per family, to reduce Co2 emissions, air pollution and temperature around the house.

TAP Group handed out 1,000 kilograms of processed fertilizers from waste management in the production process to develop and use. Together with a support from Environmental Conservation Organization, Nonthaburi, in providing 200 jackfruit trees to 200 households in Moo 2 Sai Yai Subdistrict, Nonthaburi province. To plant in their house area and increase green area, moreover, to absorb air pollution and able to consume produces.
These are the part of “Brewing a Better World” ambition in order to growing with communities and enhance quality of life.

Ms. Sujanya Sethanandha, the corporate communication and sustainability department of TAP Group said, “TAP Group strives to conduct its business with responsibilities toward society and environment under the sustainability mission called “Brewing a Better World”, a main focus area that aligned with HEINEKEN'S® global sustainability strategy, that keeps continuing for 25 years. The strategy focuses on 6 pillars such as Protecting Water Resources, Reducing Co2 Emissions, Sourcing Sustainability, Responsible Consumption, Growing with Communities, and Promoting Health & Safety.”
“We foresee environmental problems affecting communities in Nonthaburi province, where our brewery is located.  People are facing with the air pollution like PM 2.5, including the effects of global warming that caused by continuous increases of temperature and Co2 in the atmosphere. Which we intend to be part of supporting the creation of green area in the community nearby our brewery. We encourage people to help reduce air pollution and increase oxygen in the atmosphere consistent with the research of the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning, which founds that a single big tree can absorb approximately 9-15 kilograms of carbon dioxide per year, reduce temperature around the house 2-4 C, and trap 1.4 kilograms of dust per year. We believe that growing trees is one way to help solve environmental problems sustainably and trees are friendly to the community. These are the reason why we launch “Grow Plant Grow Community” project to emphasize our commitment of improving the quality of life in the community nearby our brewery, while also help reducing Co2 in the atmosphere,” said Ms. Sujanya.

Ms. Nannaphat Khanvaraphantichai, the representative of environmental department of TAP Group added that “Our brewery considers the environmental impact in every process. We take responsible for releasing wastewater from the brewery by treating wastewater using our treatment pond and we also have supplier who service on treating wastewater as well before releasing back to the community’s water resource, which is an integral part of the community consumption ecosystem. The fertilizers that we have delivered to community are the quality fertilizers from waste management in the production process through sludge treatment process, then we transfer it to the supplier to transmute it into quality fertilizer that can be used for agriculture. This has considered as part of sourcing sustainability management, which not only reduces the amount of post-production waste but also helps the community to make use of this resource as well.”

TAP Group believed that “Grow Plant Grow Community” project will help improve the quality of life in communities nearby TAP brewery, to grow sustainably and expand widely. As well as being part of helping prevent and solve environmental problems that the communities in Nonthaburi province are currently facing or being affected. In addition, the company will continue to support projects that are beneficial to society and the environment while also push forward people in the community to have a better quality of life.
